Today I’m eating the last piece of a dessert that another teacher had brought in for us. Because I took the last piece, I just began eating it when the students began entering the room. One student asks for the piece of pinapple on it; I tell her that is okay, so she takes it off and eats it. The next student asks if she could have some of the dessert. I tell her okay as well…she takes the fork out of my hand (that has already been in my mouth), takes a piece and eats it, and hands me the fork back. Some kids are too comfortable with me.
